*Boozy Fridays presents The Hurricane cocktail*
The Hurricane was created sometimes during the 1940’s at Pat O’Brien’s bar in New Orleans, but the original recipe seems to be lost. Even though Pat O’Brien’s is an Irish –themed bar, this drink became a tiki bar staple around the world. Most Hurricanes today are made of mixes and artificial ingredients, but Wayne Curtis introduces a much fresher variation in his 2006 ‘’and a bottle of rum” book.
The Hurricane original Formula
– 60ml light rum
– 60ml dark rum
– 60ml passion fruit juice
– 30ml orange juice
– 15ml fresh lime juice
– 1 tablespoon sugar or simple syrup
– 1 tablespoon grenadine
Maraschino cherry and orange slice for garnish
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a hurricane glass. Garnish with a cherry and an orange slice.
**Cheers to Weekend Cocktail**
