*Boozy Fridays presents Blood and Sand Cocktail*
The recipe for the drink first appeared in print in Harry Craddock’s 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book.
We don’t know its inventor and we’ve no idea about the establishment in which it originally appeared . What we do know is that it was named for the 1922 movie starring Rudolph Valentino, the silent-film star .
The following recipe is taken from ‘Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails” book by Ted Haigh aka Dr. Cocktail.
Blood and Sand Cocktail formula:
– 30ml Nikka Blended Whisky
– 30ml Fresh Orange Juice
– 22,5 ml Dolin Rouge
– 22,5 ml Peter Heering Cherry Liqueur
Garnish: Maraschino cherries
